Synopsis: Check out these two simple and easy methods to finding out what firmware version your SSD has.

Keeping your SSD up to date with the most recent firmware can improve it's durability and performance. It's important that you keep the firmware current to get the most out of your purchase.

Firmware labelling will normally have a number assigned to it, and if your SSD has a firmware version of equal or greater value then you will not have to upgrade. For example if you have SSD firmware version 1.2 and the one available is 1.1, then you will not have to download and install 1.1, as 1.2 is a more recent version.

Please also check any other related warnings and firmware compatibility before proceeding with any upgrade.

Thanks for the valuable info. Using CrystalDiskInfo, was able to find the NVMe Standard (2.0) that my 240GB BPX runs. Have a BPX PRO yet to install, that one is of the 3.0 standard. Hopefully faster than the 240GB BPX, however, these are also great drives, runs neck to neck against my 521GB Samsung 950 PRO (for just over a third of the price).

Hey MyDigitalDiscount,

Great tip. It is really important to keep your SSD firmware up to date for regular minimum PC requirements or a super computer for HPC too.

Thanks,
Dennis
