Synopsis: Chris Ramseyer shares the latest pricing and availability details for MyDigitalSSD SBX and Patriot Scorch series drives featuring the Phison E8 NVMe controller.

As Phison E8 (PS5008-E8) based solid state drives begin their roll out, Tom's Hardware Contributing Editor Chris Ramseyer spotlights the first drives to market featuring the controller while noting their benefit for those interested in cryptocurrency mining. He explains, “These products use fewer PCIe lanes, sell at lower prices, and are considered low-power storage devices,” which Ramseyer says appeals to miners who are “looking for every advantage to find profitability.”

Detailing the SBX series of 80mm M.2 PCI Express 3.0 x2 NVMe SSDs, Ramseyer says, “Coming under the SBX model name, MyDigitalSSD lists 128TB ($59.23), 256GB ($93.83), 512GB ($173.30) and 1TB ($318.71) as available (at the time of writing) with a five-year warranty.”

Patriot Memory's Scorch series also features the E8 controller with 128GB ($71.25), 256GB ($118.75), and 512GB ($229.99) models found on B&H at a three year warranty.
