Synopsis: YouTuber Timmy Joe looks at MyDigitalSSD BP5e and BPX NVMe SSDs, answering subscriber's questions about upgrading to PCIe while incorporating both into a custom PC build.

Timmy Joe, a popular tech YouTuber from Canada, features two best-selling solid state drives from MyDigitalSSD over three videos, first introducing the drives and later including them in an epic custom PC build that turned a lot of heads.

The drives in question? MyDigitalSSD's 960GB Bullet Proof 5 Eco (BP5e) 2.5” SATA III and 480GB Bullet Proof eXpress (BPX) PCIe Gen 3x4 NVMe 80mm 2280 M.2 solid state drives.

In his first video, Timmy Joe shows viewers how the BPX NVMe and BP5e drives stack up against the competition before addressing the question: is PCIe worth the upgrade?

Comparing the two MyDigitalSSD drives to each other and the competition, Timmy Joe starts out by noting that the BPX NVMe is about $20-$40 cheaper than the Samsung competition with the same storage while noting that the BPX is more in line with the Samsung Pro versions in terms of speed with CrystalDiskMark speeds of 2768 MB/s read and 1564 MB/s write. Not far behind, the BP5e SATA scored 549.7 MB/s read and 532.2 MB/s write in the same speed test. Later, Timmy Joe mentions that the commercial differences between the BPX NVMe and the BP5e SATA is that the BPX NVMe is newer, updated, and will work well with the architecture of a newer machine.

Despite the incredible performance of the BPX, it’s not all over for the BP5e. With reviewers like The SSD Review and Tom’s Hardware mentioning their affinity for the drive, it’s massive storage space, and it’s unexpected speed increases, it’s no wonder the BP5e continues to receive positive feedback. In his own nod to the drive, Timmy Joe says, “It’s very well-priced, especially for their BP5 line here. It is very fast and comparative to the Samsung Pro, and it’s cheaper.” He later says, “What you’re getting from both drives is a lot faster access times and a huge performance improvement, all for less than the Samsung equivalent. “In real world scenarios, upgrading to an NVMe certainly has its benefits, it’s going to be a lot faster for access times.”

In his second video, Timmy Joe puts his research to the test, using both the MyDigitalSSD BPX and BP5e in an epic PC build that features a custom Ryzen case. Here, he saw similar performance and told viewers, “You’ll see a crazy improvement on your load times,” with the goal of the custom case to fit on a desk and give the user the best office or gaming experience possible in a compact setting. Timmy Joe features the BPX in the motherboard of the build, while also including the BP5e for 1TB of available storage despite the case having a relatively low volume for this unique build. Using both drives in the build for speed and storage components proved to be a fast solution that used as little space within the case as possible.

Returning to the build in a final video, Timmy Joe follows up on his epic Ryzen build to show users how they can improve the case on their custom build, getting the most use out of their BPX and BP5e.
