Les Tokar of The SSD Review evaluates the 240GB MyDigitalSSD BP4 Slim 7 Series SSD and finds it to be a powerful and reliable drive for its price of $159.99. Equipped with Toshiba flash memory and a dependable Phison controller, Tokar found that the BP4's sequential read performance beats that two of the leading SSDs currently on the market, the Samsung 840 Pro and OCZ Vector.

The BP4 Slim 7 received 4 out of 5 stars and walked away with the The SSD Review's Top Value Award. Below are some excerpts from the review:

"Of particular interest is Toshiba’s new Toggle Mode 2 NAND flash memory which really boosts sequential read performance significantly. More important than the overall performance, however, this memory reaches faster speeds at smaller file disk access which could result in a visible performance boost as we will demonstrate in our ATTO testing."

"Specific to this ATTO benchmark, take a look at the 4K read performance of 384MB/s. We thought this was the fastest we had seen to date so decided to pull up the reviews of our two top drives, the Samsung 840 Pro and OCZ Vector. As much as the combined read and write performance for both is better at the 4k level, it is worth noting that the performance of the BP4 is significantly higher than both in 4k read performance."

"The AS SSD Copy Benchmark did stand out with some extremely fast transfer times and three SATA 3 transfer speed highs. This is an excellent result."

"Our benchmark results of just below 400MB/s for both the 120 and 240GB versions of this drive are definitely a plus. It beat that of arguably the top two SSDs on the market to date. I am very curious as to whether we are going to see this in similar reviews using this new Toshiba 19nm Toggle Mode 2 memory."

"In high sequential data testing with incompressible data, the BP4 displayed a read result of 516MB/s and write result of 398MB/s and that is plenty strong for how little is being taken from your pocketbook."

"...the Phison S8 controller has been out for awhile, Toshibas reputation for memory is one of the best and the BP4 comes with a standard three year warranty and this is definitely a win win."
