Synopsis: Get the latest Firmware update for MyDigitalSSD BP3 mSATA SSDs featuring the Phison S8 Controller. This update over provisions the drive for improved Random Read/Write performance, increases the life span and endurance of the drive, and corrects compatibility issues seen in the Acer W500 and Asus EP121.

Get improved speeds, endurance, and lifespan while making compatibility issues a thing of the past!

Click the links below to download the latest firmware update for MyDigitalSSD BP3 mSATA SSDs featuring the Phison S8 controller and our step-by-step tutorial to assist you in updating your drive.

The main feature of this firmware update is that it over provisions the SSD. While over provisioning does slightly decrease the overall size of the drive, it does a lot of good for the drive by leveraging that additional capacity for improved random (small file) Read/Write speeds and IOPS (helps with boot times and opening programs), extended performance endurance (no slow down no matter how much data you put on it), and allows for a longer life span of the drive itself.

Furthermore, this update also corrects compatibility issues seen in the Acer Iconia Tab W500 and ASUS Eee Slate EP121.

Note: This firmware update is intended for MyDigitalSSD solid state drives. While compatible with other solid state drives featuring the Phison S8 controller, My Digital Discount will not be held responsible for errors made on drives other than MyDigitalSSD, if any occur.

Hi, I've updated my MDMS-BP3-256 with this firmware onto my Samsung Slate 7. Now I'm unable to install W7 or W8. It takes more than 1 hour to copy install files during setup process, and always crash just after this step. No specific error message.

Hi, i updated the firmware for my SSD few months back, but recently i having some problems on the laptop hanging for no reason. When i rebooted the SSD is not detected by the BIOS. I had to remove the laptop power cable, battery and SSD and remount them again to get the laptop working.

Couldn't find any details/support on what could be the cause.

Can you lend me a hand?

Tim,

It sounds like you installed Windows while still in IDE/Compatibility mode. Remember that after you completed the upgrade in IDE/Compatibility mode, you need to switch it back to AHCI before installing any operating systems.

Just upgraded to BP3-256 and updated to this latest firmware ok by disabling AHCI in BIOS (Samsung Series 9 np900x3c). But now when I enable AHCI it crashes when loading the OS (Win 7). If I disable AHCI it loads OS with no problems. Does BP3-256 not work with AHCI? Any thoughts? Thanks.

Thomas,

Unfortunately no, your drive needs to be updated on an IDE connection. If you do not have that option, we can take it back to perform the update and promptly ship it back out to you. If that's something you're interested in, contact us at orders@mydigitaldiscount.com or give us a call toll free at 1-866-217-1800.

The good news is that after this update has been made, the issues you've been having should be a thing of the past.

I have an EP121 and cannot update the firmware to 04.6. No options to change the setting to IDE or compatibility in BIOS. From the other comments, I assume that the EP121 is ACHI only.

I bought a MSATA enclosure adapter. Can I update the firmware if I put the drive into that and plug into another computer?

I've had serious issues with the 256GB drive since I've owned it with freezes and crashes. Have had to repair errors constantly. I am hoping the firmware update takes care of the issues.

Thanks
