Following up on his full capacity review of MyDigitalSSD's SBX 2280 M.2 PCIe Gen3 x2 NVMe SSDs, Allyn Malventano sits down with Patrick Norton on This Week in Computer Hardware (TWiCH) to discuss some his findings, shining a light on why the SBX series received the PC Perspective Gold Award.
When asked if he was still excited after testing the MyDigitalSSD SBX, Malventano replied, "The thing that excites me about a drive like this is that you don't always need the fire breathing product" before listing key features such as, "Decent drives, five-year warranty, the endurance looks good, the price is great, they're beating Samsung SATA SSD prices even, so if you an get an NVMe part that can beat a Samsung SATA SSD price...this is almost a no-brainer."
He adds, "Decent part, performs well, good price, pretty much all you can ask for in an SSD. It's worth it."
As Norton and Malventano shift the subject to heavier workloads, Allyn notes the SBX also makes a great boot drive or secondary drive for gaming.
"If you're looking for a good 1TB Steam game drive, and you have a M.2 slot to use, by all means. $300 bucks for 1TB, that's not even a sale, that's just their price. Can't go wrong there either."

With ith Allyn out sick, Josh Walrath takes the reins and outlines the benefits of choosing a MyDigitalSSD SBX drive in PC Perspective Podcast #492. Walrath notes the SBX are, "A nice step up from SATA drives, less expensive than full 4x PCIe lane with M.2, and they've struck a nice balance in price and performance."
He continues, "Warranty, 5 years. That's pretty significant for any kind of drive anymore...and you can see the endurance is really good. Especially at the 1TB."
Wrapping up the segment, host Jim Tanous added the SBX looks interesting and a "great choice for a budget M.2 build."
