Servers can now support more users simultaneously, compute on larger data sets, and address high-performance computing at lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Intel's P3600 Series is a PCIe Gen3 SSD architected with the new high performance controller interface - NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory express) delivering leading performance, low latency and Quality of Service. Matching the performance with world-class reliability and endurance, this P3600 Series drive offers 800GB storage capacity in a 2.5-inch form factor.

With PCIe Gen3 support and NVMe queuing interface, this P3600 Series drive delivers excellent sequential read performance of up to 2.6GB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 1000MB/s. P3600 Series delivers very high random read IOPS of 450K and random write IOPS of 70K for 4KB operations. Taking advantage of the direct path from the storage to the CPU by means of NVMe, P3600 Series exhibits low latency of less than 20 μs for sequential access to the SSD.

The 2.5-inch P3600 Series takes advantage of the 8639 connector and provides hot-pluggable removal and insertion providing in-service replacement options.

The Intel SSD Data Center Family for PCIe brings extreme data throughput directly to Intel® Xeon® processors with up to six times faster data transfer speed than 6 Gbps SAS/SATA SSDs. The performance of a single drive from the Intel SSD DC P3600 Series can replace the performance of roughly 7 SATA SSDs aggregated through an HBA (~500K IOPS) and 2,300 15K 200 IOPS HDDs (Hard Disk Drives).

SSD performance consistency provides scalable throughput when multiple SSDs are unified into a single storage volume. Intel SSD Data Center Family for PCIe devices are based on Intel-developed controller, firmware, and leading manufacturing process NAND flash memory. Rigorous qualification and compatibility testing ensures a highly reliable SSD. By combining SSD NAND management techniques and NAND silicon enhancements, High Endurance Technology (HET) enables the Intel DC P3600 Series to achieve 3 drive writes per day (DWPD) throughout the life of the drive.

Modernize Data Center Storage

NVMe is engineered for current and future Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) technologies, unlike SAS/SATA SSDs. NVMe overcomes SAS/SATA SSD performance limitations by optimizing hardware and software to take full advantage of NVM SSD technology. Intel Xeon processors efficiently transfer data in fewer clock cycles with the NVMe optimized software stack compared to the legacy Advance Host Controller Interface (AHCI) stack, reducing latency and overhead. Direct CPU connection also eliminates Host-Bus-Adapter (HBA) cards, further reducing latency and TCO.
