What you'll need

Pro Tips

  • Using a computer or tablet is recommended during setup for easier navigation.
  • Have your Sensors ready to pair out of the box by following directions 1-7 before they arrive!

Connect to SmartThings

  1. Sign in to your SmartThings Developer API account using YOUR SmartThings App login information.
  2. In the Developer API, go to My Locations, click your location name, and sign in.
  3. Click the My Device Handlers tab.
  4. Click the "Create New Device Handler" link located on the upper right of the page.
  5. Click the "From Code" link located on the left side of the page.
  6. Copy the update code from this page.
  7. Paste the copied code into the text box on the Developer API web page, click "Create", click the "Publish" button, and select "For Me". If you see the message "Device type published successfully." then you may close the Developer API browser window.
  8. Set your ISW-ZPR1-WP13 to discovery mode. (See instructions included in box.)
  9. Use the SmartThings App to search for and install your motion sensor(s).
  10. Sit back and relax knowing your home is now protected by the ISW-ZPR1-WP13 Wireless PIR Motion Sensor from Bosch Security Systems!

FAQs

1. Why does my Bosch Motion Sensor continue showing up as a "thing"? I cannot get it to pair properly.
If your Bosch Motion Sensor continues to show up as a "thing" in discovery mode, this usually indicates that the device was put into discovery mode before the device handler was created. Please follow the Connect to SmartThings instructions above in the order they are written up to step 8. At that time, (1) remove the “thing” from your SmartThings app and (2) reset the sensor according to the instructions in our Troubleshooting section below.

2. I completed the Connect to SmartThings instructions and put the device into discovery mode but my sensor is not seen by the SmartThings App.
If this happens, please try to reset your sensor according to the instructions in our Troubleshooting section below.

3. I can't sign in because my hub isn't showing up on My Locations in the Developer API. What can I do?
If you find your hub is not listed under My Locations, its likely you're not using your current login and password info from your SmartThings App. Please create a new account using your SmartThings App login information.


Troubleshooting

Having trouble connecting your device? Follow these steps to remove your device in SmartThings and reset factory settings.

To remove the device in SmartThings

  1. Go to the "thing" representing the sensor.
  2. Click its gear button.
  3. Remove the device.

To reset the detector to factory default settings

  1. Unlock and open the detector.
  2. Remove only the top battery from each of the battery compartments.
  3. Press and hold the tamper switch.
  4. Reinsert the batteries in the following order: battery on the right side first, battery on the left side second.
  5. Release the tamper switch within 4 seconds after the batteries are reinserted.
  6. Slide the detector body onto the base. Do not lock the detector at this time.

I'm trying to create an automation routine but the Smartthings doesn't shown the Boch sensor, the sensor is already pair and working but i would like to create an action when it detects motion but I'm not able to do it. Do you know id I need to add other code ?

I am able to pair it with ST, however, when I clicked the device name in the app, it says: Can't connect to device, Check device and try again.

I delete and create handler a few times and same result.

No matter what I do I can't get it into pairing mode. I follow the instructions to reset, Remove top batteries, hold down tamper, insert right battery then left battery, release tamper switch, it still will not go into pairing. Anyone else have this problem?

I had absolutely no issues pairing. I had no issues with walk test. However, with both sensors I have purchased, no motion is detected after the walk test. I am obviously not the only person with this problem. If you go to the Smartthings Community Forum, there are dozens of complaints with the same issue. Why can't you just publish a solution instead of directing everyone to contact customer support?

The issue is after the initial setup, the motion sensor no longer blinks when picking up motion. The only way to see the motion history is to look in the logs in the smartthings app.

My sensor is seen and paired as Bosch PIR motion detector. However once it starts the led doesnt turn on when motion is detected and then sudddenly becomes erratic not always detecs movement .... what should i do? Have resetted the device couple of times aleady.

same here.. everything works during installation, even walk test is successful but there is no motion detected after the setup is complete!! Was anyone able to resolve this? Please help

I have the same problem with the motion sensor as Donald. It detects motions for about 5 minutes. After about 5 minutes, it no longer detects any motion. I have 2 of them and they both stop detecting motion after 5 minutes. Are there any specific steps I can try?
