Synopsis: In this video, tech reviewer Mardee Thompson benchmarks the ultra-portable 256GB MyDigitalSSD OTG USB 3.0 SSD and shares his thoughts. SPOILERS: He really likes it!

In the YouTube video above, tech reviewer Mardee Thompson, of Mardee Reviews Tech, unboxes and benchmarks the ultra-portable 256GB OTG USB 3.0 SSD from MyDigitalSSD.

For those unfamiliar, the MyDigitalSSD OTG is a palm-sized external solid state drive designed for users on the go. Though small in size, the OTG is large in storage, and features "insane speed" of up to 465MB/s as Thompson noted during unboxing. But that's not all! As Mardee explains, being UASP complaint, the OTG provides an "extra speed boost" for devices that support UASP. Coupled with being backward compatible with USB 2.0 and fully compatible with Windows, Mac and Linux, it's hard to argue that the OTG has "a lot under the hood".

Opening up the box Thompson had this to say about the contents: "Really nice looking device, very good packaging."

Turning to benchmark testing, Mardee first hooks up the OTG to his gaming laptop PC that comes with a USB 3.0 connection and UASP support, resulting in "blistering fast" speeds of 438MB/s read and 351MB/s write using CrystalDiskMark utility. Impressed, Thompson sums up the results calling the OTG a "fast frickin' drive".

After proving its compatibility with his Macbook Air, Thompson extols why the OTG is the ideal pocket companion for carrying data.

"Really really fast pocket SSD drive, that you can take with you. Super portable, super thin, super lightweight... just tiny and fast."

Mardee continues, "Really affordable, really fast. This is one of the fastest little portable drives I think that we have tested. And we even out did what their website was showing for speeds."

In closing his review, Thompson calls the OTG a "really cool device".

MyDigitalDiscount.com currently offers MyDigitalSSD OTG drives in 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage sizes. Get yours here.
