iPodes, Yes, you're correct. The 030 was the last update to ever be released for the S5 controller. |

Kieran, There is no Mac solution at this time. You'll have to find someone with a PC to assist you in performing the update for you to use it in a Mac afterwards. If you do not have access to a PC, we'd be happy to upgrade your device for you. Simply email info@mydigitaldiscount.com, or call toll free 1-866-217-1800, for details on setting that up. |

Nice to see such a team working towards user's satisfaction! I upgraded a Verbatim 128GB Black Edition from S5FAM012 to S5FAM017 like a charm a few months ago with success and I plan to do the same with the new S5FAM030 firmware in a few days. Just curious, has anybody a link to the Verbatim (Win PE supposed version) version as the link below is broken ? Thanks in advance and Greetings from France! |

Gus, Thanks for the kind words! As it stands now, Phison's controller focus is on the S8 but if they do release an update for the S5, rest assured, we'll post it here. Steven's method also worked for me on a H61m-p23 Mobo (s.1155), I had the error message "No valid sata disk inserted" even in IDE mode, I managed to update the firmware with no problem then. For now I can't say if my Verb behaves better, I'll have to test it a bit more. |

Do you have any news about next update of firmware for S5 controller - enabled drives? Cant wait to improve my V4 even further! Looks like you guys care about your customers more than some other vendors. Keep up good work! thx! |

Steven's method worked on my Thinkpad T61p with Corsair Nova 2 v60gb2 and S5FAM030. The output from dlmc went by too quick and couldn't be run through "more" or paused quickly enough. "dlmc 0x1f0 -master" worked perfect though. The SSD was the only drive in the laptop. |

iPodes - You're quite welcome! Thank you for the suggestion as well, we'll be sure to look into that. ------------------ Scar - That's tough for us to diagnose as we don't have much familiarity with the Crucial V4 but hopefully somebody reading this, whose had a similar issue, can offer a solution. |

Just came here to say thanks for having better support here than by a company with at least ten times your size. Such a shame for Verbatim. I have a Verbatim 64 GB SSD Sata II (Product Number: 47473) and I had never upgraded the firmware since I bought the SSD. Must say that after upgrading to S5FAM030 the behavior it's completely different. No hanging times, faster boot and faster response. The tutorial it's also quite complete. (I would just suggest to make a guide for how to clone the SSD content and move it back again after firmware upgrade) Once again thanks for your work, Regards. |

Gus, We're happy to hear your laptop is running smoothly but we are not provided change logs for our updates. The last few updates have mostly addressed speed issues that have arisen during use but the next release, FW V4.6, will focus on compatibility issues, even faster speeds, overprovisioning, and increased lifespan. Stay tuned to our Twitter @MyDigital for more details this week. |

Flashed successfully my V4 256Gb. Works good on my Laptop. Is it possible to read changelog of this firmware over previous versions. Thanks in advance! |

ticoloco - Those are unusual results and could even have something to do with the type of data/information populating the SSD. Please contact info@mydigitaldiscount.com with more details, including what exactly the drive is being used for, and we'll do our best to help you find a solution to this issue. ------------------------------------ Papa Hobbit - We've had success with Verbatim drives in the past but, unfortunately, we do not have the knowledge base of their products to tell you if something has changed where this firmware upgrade no longer works with their products. Because we do not deal directly with Verbatim, you'll need to contact them directly for further assistance. |

The firmware S5FAM030 can not install on the Verbatim 128 GB Black. After entering the "ISP" software crash after some time. I have tried in bios IDE, RAID and AHCI. My board is an Intel DP35DP. greeting Papa Hobbit |

Think I might have a lemon MyDigitalSSD BP 128GB microSATA. Lenovo T410s sometimes becomes barely useable with these results despite 030 FW: seq: 32 ; 7 512K: 22 ; 4 4K: 0.7 ; 1.2 QD32: 64 ; 11 At other times, I get more "normal" results: seq: 224 ; 93 512K: 152 ; 57 4K: 8 ; 13 QD32: 64 ; 18 Using CrystalDiskMark. Drive has 110GB of 119GB in use. Am using Windows 8 x64. Any ideas? Any other test I could run to diagnose what might be wrong? Taskmanager doesn't show any fishy programs hogging the drive, instead showing it's often reading at 100% at 1 MB/s. Thanks! |

AY - Thank you for the tips, we're glad to hear the firmware has helped. Fabio - That's great to hear! PALOY - We're happy to hear your notebook is running smoother. As far as freeware goes, here are a few trusted programs we like to use. 1. For unbuffered speed results, we use CrystalDiskMark. 2. For buffered speed results showing the drive's maximum potential, we use ATTO Benchmark. 3. For SSD firmware and feature information, we use CrystalDiskInfo. Regarding life span and current status on the life of the SSD, we have yet to find a truly accurate program but we're always on the lookout. |

Worked with my Verbatim 128Gb drive, using FW 030, ide mode, and the DOS updater, disk is MUCH better now in sequential R/W like a previous user said it makes the hardware worth the purchase :) Thanks |

S5FAM030_FW works awhole better for Crucial V4 256GB in a Dell E4310. Less frequent locks up. Upgraded from stock FAM022 to FAM030. In the bios, ATA must be selected before it'd recognize the drive. Also, disable caching in Windows. |

I had the same problem as Kres describes above. I realized that I had the DVD-reader still plugged in. After I removed it I was prompted with the "No valid SATA Device Exist !". I tried Steven's command exactly as it was specified. Ended up with a blinking cursor and a black screen. Restarted and tried again. I realized I did only have one master device and not a master and a slave. I changed the command to dlmc 0x1f0 -master And it worked as a charm. Now I will test the performance. Thank you for the command Steven! |
