mSATA solid state drives are some of the hottest SSDs on the market today, popping up in a variety of the latest mobile devices, netbooks, and notebook PCs. As time goes on, more and more people are catching wind of the SSD trend, which is no surprise to us since the performance of these drives are head and shoulders above the rest. There is really so much to love about these mSATAs - the difference is very noticeable when a small PC notebook using an mSATA SSD can boot-up and load applications faster than a top-of-the-line HDD desktop only five years ago.

At My Digital Discount, we have had a number of customers ask us if their computers are mSATA compatible. The following is a list of some of the most popular mSATA compatible models being used today:

Nick,

Toshiba will always tell you no because they don't want you to open the laptop. I have not had the pleasure of doing the upgrade on the X70 yet so I can not say 100% on anything, but if it made it to our list it's because someone has successfully installed it. That being said, buy with confidence that if it doesn't work, we'll find another solution for you.

The MyDigitalSSD 240GB (256GB) mSATA SSD is "at time of typing" enjoying a 34% instant saving:

Guys... I see that you have my new laptop on the list:

Toshiba X70-B-102

However... when I asked the people at toshiba they told me there was no mSATA on this laptop. Perhaps they meant there is no slot to connect an mSATA drive... ? How can I discover if I really do have an mSATA connection so I can buy myself a nice healthy 256GB card

cheers.

Nick

paul mav - If you were told that mSATA SSD mini (half-size) SSD would work then you have some options for a supporting cache or boot drive. See the store link below:

like to know - The Dell Inspiron 3250 is not compatible with mSATA SSDs. However if you have a mSATA SSD that you want to use instead of the main 2.5" SATA drive, there is a mSATA to 2.5" SATA adapter available. See below for link:

is this compatible with mSata
and is it possible to make it compatible?
MyDigitalDiscount.com Monday, January 12, 2015 08:29:04
Rick,

If your SSD is a Samsung XP941 then you will need a PCIe SSD. If not, it will qualify for a SATA M.2 NGFF 40mm SSD.

You can check the make and model in the "Device Manager" on Windows.
Rick Thursday, January 8, 2015 19:46:02

Miguel - After a bit of research, we couldn't find any mention of your E6228 being mSATA compatible. Sorry about that.

Kenji_Shinja - The best way to get a leg up in gaming is to have the best video card on the market, which the Apache already does.

RAM will not help games load faster. It will help graphic intensive games run a little smoother, but not much.

If you're looking for faster load times, an SSD will help in that area, allowing you to be one of the first people to join a server and things of that nature. Having a RAID is what's helping run everything so smoothly for you right now.

While MSI's website states you can only use up to 256GB, we'd venture a guess that larger capacities (512GB) would work as well seeing as 256GB drives were the largest capacity available upon the GE70 2PE's release.

If you're looking to upgrade, we suggest trying MyDigitalSSD BP4e mSATA drives found in the link below. Hope that helps!

Hi,
I would like to ask about my laptop (MSI GE70 2PE) :
1) Which one is better to improve gaming performance either make super raid 128GB (2x64) or add one more 8GB ram ? I'm heavy gamer, always set Ultra setting.Currently my laptop running smooth.Any effect will do ?
2) What are those msata that support my laptop ?
