What is Class Speed
Rating?
The SDA defines 3 speed classes
in order to let users identify speed and
performance capabilities of SDHC cards and the
host products. The speed class rating specifies
a minimum sustained write speed for SDHC cards.
- Class 2: >= 2MB/sec
- Class 4: >= 4MB/sec
- Class 6: >= 6MB/sec
What is SDHC?
SDHC is the new generation SD card built
upon the new SDA 2.00 specification, which
allows SD cards to reach capacities of 4GB up to
32GB. The new specification is released in
response to growing demand for high quality
photo images and high resolution video recording
capabilities which requires large amount of
storage capacity.
Note: SDHC cards are not backwards compatible
with standard SD host devices. Standard SD cards
are forward compatible with SDHC host devices.
To ensure compatibility, look for the SDHC logo
on the host device packaging. Please check with
your device manufacturer for their
current/future supported SDHC devices.
